The car and pavement is real, everything else is cg. The palm trees are actual video footage of palm trees gently swaying in a breeze and then texture mapped with alpha onto square polys. They even cast shadows. The more movement the better. The monorail moves, the sign moves, the trees sway and the car drives underneath.
